U.S. Senator Joni Ernst has announced Northwood Foods of Worth County as her Small Business of the Week. This recognition is part of Chair Ernst's plan to honor a small business in each of Iowa’s 99 counties during the 119th Congress.
Senator Ernst commented on Northwood Foods, saying, “Built on prime values, Northwood Foods continues to make every cut count.” She praised their commitment to delivering pork with precision and pride since the company’s inception in 1998.
Northwood Foods was founded by Brian Burkard with the goal of providing high-quality, tailored pork processing services. The company quickly expanded its operations and began serving both domestic and international clients within two years. The business underwent major plant expansions in 2001 and 2006 and now operates a facility that processes over 600,000 pounds of fresh pork daily. In February, Northwood Foods marked its 27th anniversary.
