These operations facilitated the entry of tens of thousands of Afghans into the United States, providing services such as immigration processing and resettlement support.
Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz said that the FBI played a crucial role in screening and vetting Afghan evacuees to ensure they did not pose a national security risk. The report found that each FBI element responsible for supporting these evacuations performed their roles according to applicable guidance.
Additionally, when potential national security threats were identified among certain evacuees, the FBI utilized its investigative authorities to address these threats.
