Timothy M. O’Shea, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Craig Daskam, a 69-year-old resident of Beloit, Wisconsin, has been sentenced to four years in federal prison for possessing child pornography. Chief U.S. District Judge James D. Peterson delivered the sentence, which includes ten years of supervised release following the prison term. Additionally, Daskam is required to pay $22,000 in assessments to support victims of child exploitation crimes. Daskam had pleaded guilty to the offense on March 19, 2025.
The investigation began in 2023 when the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in Madison received information from FBI-Charlotte indicating that Daskam had received child pornography. A search of his residence led to the seizure of multiple electronic devices. Upon examination of these devices, agents discovered numerous images and videos containing child pornography on Daskam’s phone.
During sentencing, Judge Peterson expressed concern over what he described as a dangerous impulse driving Daskam's actions—an impulse that he believes Daskam does not understand or control.
The charge against Daskam was based on an investigation conducted by FBI Madison, FBI Charlotte, and the Beloit Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kathryn Ginsberg prosecuted the case.
This case was part of Project Safe Childhood (PSC), a nationwide initiative aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse by coordinating federal, state, and local resources to apprehend offenders and rescue victims.
