The indictment states that Hernandez Mancia was previously deported from the U.S. on July 31, 2024. Allegedly, he reentered the country illegally without authorization sometime after his removal.
If convicted of unlawful reentry of a deported alien, Hernandez Mancia could face up to two years in prison, followed by one year of supervised release. Additionally, there is a potential fine of up to $250,000. Upon completion of any sentence imposed, he is subject to deportation again. Sentencing will be determined by a federal district court judge based on U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and relevant statutes.
The announcement was made by United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Patricia H. Hyde, Field Office Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston. Assistant U.S. Attorney Allegra Flamm from the Major Crimes Unit is handling the prosecution.
It is important to note that the information in the charging documents consists of allegations at this stage. Hernandez Mancia is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
