Xa Xiong, a 32-year-old resident of St. Paul, Minnesota, has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for methamphetamine distribution. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge William M. Conley in Madison, Wisconsin. Following his prison term, Xiong will be subject to five years of supervised release. He pled guilty to the charge on February 21, 2025.
The investigation into Xiong began in July 2024 when authorities received a tip from a confidential source about a significant amount of methamphetamine stored in a unit in Eau Claire. A search warrant led investigators to discover approximately six pounds of methamphetamine in a backpack linked to Xiong. On July 26, 2024, Xiong sold around one pound of methamphetamine to an undercover officer in Menomonie, Wisconsin. He was arrested after attempting to sell an additional two pounds to the same officer the following week.
During sentencing, Judge Conley noted the large quantity of drugs involved and commented that it exceeded what would be needed for personal use.
The case against Xiong was developed through efforts by multiple agencies including the West Central Drug Task Force, Eau Claire Police Department, Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration, and Clark County Sheriff’s Department. The ATF Madison Crime Gun Task Force also contributed assistance. Assistant U.S. Attorney William Levins led the prosecution.
