Ohio woman charged with drug trafficking in Virgin Islands

Kesahia Davis, a 32-year-old resident of Ohio, was arraigned on June 9, 2025, in the District Court of the Virgin Islands. She faces charges of drug trafficking and conspiracy following an indictment issued on May 21, 2025. The indictment accuses Davis of one count of conspiracy to commit a drug trafficking crime and one count of possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

Court records reveal that Davis arrived at Cyril E King Airport on March 23, 2025, via Spirit Airlines. Upon arrival, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers conducted routine examinations using an X-Ray machine on checked baggage from the flight. Anomalies detected in one piece of luggage were believed to be consistent with marijuana.

The baggage was monitored as it moved through the conveyer belt system. Davis collected the luggage from the belt and proceeded towards the airport exit when CBP officers stopped her for questioning. When asked if she owned the baggage, Davis confirmed it was hers but stated she did not have a key for its lock during secondary inspection.

Using a TSA key, CBP officers unlocked the bag and discovered approximately 3.89 kilograms of marijuana inside. The investigation is being carried out by Homeland Security Investigations and CBP. Assistant United States Attorney Denise George is prosecuting the case.
