U.S. Border Patrol reported no releases of illegal immigrants into the U.S. interior last month, according to a report by the New York Post. This marks a significant change from the previous year when 64,000 individuals were released under the Biden Administration.
The New York Post detailed that "Border Patrol agents didn’t release a single migrant into the US last month — a staggering drop after the Biden administration allowed 64,000 illegal crossers in the country in May 2024." The report highlighted that 8,725 migrants were apprehended at the southern border last month, representing a 93% decrease compared to May 2024's figure of 117,905.
Acting Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Pete Flores attributed this decline to what he described as "the Trump administration’s tough border policies."
