Subcommittee on Health Care and Financial Services Chairman Glenn Grothman has announced a hearing titled “Sacrificing Excellence for Ideology: The Real Cost of DEI.” The hearing will address concerns regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) mandates, which some argue compromise meritocracy and individual achievement in various sectors by promoting unlawful discrimination based on race, religion, and sex.

Grothman stated that modern DEI ideology "sows division among Americans, silences viewpoints, undermines excellence, and entrenches racism and sexism." He emphasized the Trump Administration's efforts to dismantle DEI in federal agencies and expressed his intention for Congress to support these initiatives.

The hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at 10:00 AM EST in the Rayburn House Office Building. Witnesses include Mr. Dan Lennington from the Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty; Dr. Judge Glock from the Manhattan Institute; and Dr. Erec Smith from the Cato Institute. The event will be available via livestream.
