U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, addressed the committee during a hearing on nominations for positions within the Department of Labor and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
The nominees under consideration are Jonathan Berry for Solicitor at the Department of Labor; Andrew Rogers for Administrator of the Wage and Hour Division; Anthony D’Esposito for Inspector General; and Andrea Lucas as a Member of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
Senator Cassidy acknowledged the nominees' willingness to serve. He emphasized Mr. Berry's commitment to ensuring due process and adherence to legal standards within the Department of Labor. Mr. Berry's background in labor law is seen as beneficial if he is confirmed.

Congressman D’Esposito’s nomination as Inspector General was also discussed. His role would focus on eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse within department programs. His past experience as a congressman and police detective were cited as assets.
Lastly, Ms. Lucas’s renomination to the EEOC was mentioned with regard to her record on discrimination protection and increasing monetary recoveries for workers filing complaints.
The hearing concluded with an acknowledgment from Senator Cassidy to all nominees present before turning over proceedings to Senator Sanders for his statement.
