A Youngstown, Ohio resident has been sentenced to 106 months in federal prison for armed drug trafficking. The sentence was announced by Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti.
Antoine Tate, aged 44, received the sentence from United States District Judge Cathy Bissoon after pleading guilty to charges of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, cocaine, and oxycodone, as well as possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. Following his prison term, Tate will serve six years of supervised release.
The court heard that on October 31, 2020, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, Tate attempted to evade police by vehicle. He was apprehended with a loaded pistol and quantities of fentanyl, cocaine, and oxycodone intended for distribution. Authorities also found over $2,000 in cash on him.
Assistant United States Attorney Craig W. Haller prosecuted the case for the government.
Acting United States Attorney Rivetti praised the Union Township Police Department, New Castle Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for their roles in the investigation that led to Tate's prosecution.
