A Jamestown man has been sentenced to five years in prison for his role in the burial of a murder victim. Matthew Rudy, 43, was convicted of accessory after the fact and received his sentence from Senior U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Michael J. Adler and Timothy C. Lynch. They revealed that on May 27, 2014, Anthony Neubauer kidnapped Joseph Anthony under false pretenses by offering him cocaine and took him from Jamestown to Pennsylvania, where Rudy owned property.
Upon reaching Pennsylvania, Neubauer and Rudy informed Anthony there was no cocaine before shooting and killing him. The pair then buried Anthony's body on Rudy's property because they suspected he was cooperating with authorities.
Anthony Neubauer has already been convicted and is currently awaiting sentencing for his involvement in the crime.
The investigation leading to these convictions was conducted by the Jamestown Police Department, led by Chief Timothy Jackson, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with Acting Special Agent-in-Charge Mark Grimm at the helm. Support also came from the Warren County District Attorney’s Office in Pennsylvania.
