Kashone Demetrious Bing, a 20-year-old from Levy County, Florida, has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of possessing a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon. The announcement was made by John P. Heekin, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida.
Bing's arraignment is scheduled for July 1, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in Gainesville, Florida before United States Magistrate Judge Midori Lowry. If found guilty, Bing could face up to fifteen years in prison.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives conducted the investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Adam Hapner will prosecute the case.
An indictment represents an allegation by a grand jury that a defendant has violated federal criminal law; it does not serve as evidence of guilt. Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt during trial.
This case is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative by the Department of Justice aimed at addressing illegal immigration and eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations while protecting communities from violent crime perpetrators. This operation involves resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces and Project Safe Neighborhood.
