Federal immigration officer arrested on bribery charges

United States Attorney David Metcalf announced the arrest of Amara Dukuly, a 43-year-old immigration officer from Brookhaven, Pennsylvania. Employed by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Dukuly faces charges of bribery of a public official for allegedly soliciting bribes in exchange for performing official acts.

According to the criminal complaint, Dukuly has been accused of using his position at USCIS since approximately 2015 to extract payments from individuals. These payments were allegedly in return for promises to assist with adjustments to their immigration status, including obtaining green cards, work authorization documents, or visas.

The complaint states that despite making these promises, Dukuly did not have the authority within his job duties to fulfill them. It is alleged that he corruptly sought and accepted money in exchange for being influenced in his official capacity and used the obtained funds for personal gain.

The investigation into this matter is ongoing. Authorities urge anyone with information about this defendant or other government employees involved in similar activities to contact Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Philadelphia at 1-866-347-2423 and select prompt number two.

The case is under investigation by the Department of Homeland Security Office of Inspector General, HSI, and the FBI. Assistant United States Attorney Anita Eve is leading the prosecution.

It should be noted that all charges and allegations are merely accusations at this stage. Every defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
