An Oxford man, Eric Gene Rundle, was sentenced to 156 months in federal prison for attempting to entice a minor into illicit sexual activities and receiving child pornography. The sentencing took place on June 25, 2025, in Davenport, Iowa.
Court documents revealed that Rundle, aged 44, communicated with an undercover law enforcement officer posing as a fifteen-year-old girl. He planned to meet the supposed minor for sexual acts and was arrested at the meeting location. During his arrest, a cell phone found with Rundle contained images and videos of child sexual abuse material.
Upon completing his prison term, Rundle will undergo seven years of supervised release. In the federal system, parole is not available.
United States Attorney Richard D. Westphal from the Southern District of Iowa announced the sentence. The investigation was conducted by the Iowa City Police Department.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to address child sexual exploitation and abuse. The program aims to locate and prosecute individuals exploiting children via the Internet while rescuing victims through collaboration between federal, state, and local resources.
