Zachary Thomas Carson, also known as Zach Thomas Carson, a 36-year-old resident of Adair County, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to the charge of Felon in Possession of Ammunition. This offense carries a potential penalty of up to 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Carson was indicted for knowingly possessing 297 rounds of ammunition on April 21, 2025. This occurred after he had previously been convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year in prison. The investigation leading to these charges was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Adair County Sheriff’s Office.
The plea was accepted by U.S. Magistrate Judge Gerald L. Jackson at the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. A presentence investigation report will be completed before sentencing.
A U.S. District Court Judge will decide Carson's sentence based on the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors. Until then, Carson will remain in custody under the supervision of the United States Marshals Service.
