As part of an ongoing investigation into President Joe Biden's mental health and the legitimacy of certain executive actions, House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman James Comer has requested testimony from several former White House officials. Comer has sent letters to Karine Jean-Pierre, Ian Sams, Andrew Bates, and Jeff Zients, asking them to participate in transcribed interviews.
Chairman Comer stated, "President Biden’s inner circle repeatedly told the American people that he was ‘sharp as ever,’ dismissing any commentary about his obvious mental decline as ‘gratuitous.’ They fed these false talking points to progressive allies and the media, who helped perpetuate that President Biden was fit to serve. As part of our aggressive investigation into the cover-up of his cognitive decline and potentially unauthorized executive actions, we must hear from those who aided and abetted this farce."
Previously, Comer had called on multiple former aides from the Biden administration for interviews. While most have agreed to appear voluntarily, subpoenas were issued to Dr. Kevin O’Connor, President Biden’s physician, and Anthony Bernal, a former Assistant to the President and Senior Advisor to the First Lady, after they declined voluntary participation.
The individuals requested for interviews include:
- Karine Jean-Pierre: Former Assistant to the President and White House Press Secretary
- Ian Sams: Former Special Assistant to the President and Senior Advisor in the White House Counsel’s Office
- Andrew Bates: Former Deputy Assistant to the President and Senior Deputy Press Secretary
- Jeff Zients: Former White House Chief of Staff
