Today, U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, responded to the Supreme Court's decision in the case of Mahmoud v. Taylor. Cassidy had previously supported an amicus brief advocating for parents' constitutional right to be informed about and opt their children out of school teachings that conflict with their religious beliefs regarding gender ideology.
"Today's ruling is a win for families. Students should not be forced to learn about gender and sexuality subject matter that violates their family's religious beliefs," said Dr. Cassidy. "As chair of the HELP Committee, I will continue to work with President Trump to protect parents' religious freedom and their right to guide their children's education."
