David Metcalf appointed as U.S. Attorney for Eastern District of Pennsylvania

The United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania has appointed David Metcalf as the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. After taking his oath of office, Mr. Metcalf will continue in his role indefinitely under the Vacancy Reform Act while awaiting confirmation from the United States Senate.

“I am honored that the court has extended my service to our district,” stated U.S. Attorney Metcalf. “Our commitment to prosecuting criminals and upholding the rule of law does not change.”

Earlier this year, Attorney General Pamela Bondi appointed Mr. Metcalf as Interim United States Attorney for a 120-day period, and President Trump nominated him for a full four-year term. Recently, the Senate Judiciary Committee advanced Mr. Metcalf’s nomination to the full Senate for confirmation.

Mitchell S. Goldberg, Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, administered Mr. Metcalf's swearing-in on June 30, 2025.
