Patrick Chamberlain, a 25-year-old resident of Saginaw, has been sentenced to a decade in federal prison for his role in a fentanyl distribution conspiracy. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Jerome F. Gorgon Jr., who was accompanied by Andrew Lawton, the Acting Special Agent in Charge of the Detroit Field Office of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Court Judge Thomas L. Ludington after Chamberlain entered a guilty plea for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute fentanyl.

Court documents revealed that in December 2022, authorities intercepted a package containing nearly three kilograms of fentanyl pills addressed to a relative's home. This interception was part of an investigation that found Chamberlain had arranged multiple similar shipments throughout 2022. He conspired with others to send these fentanyl pills to Michigan and subsequently distributed them across the Bay City area.

U.S. Attorney Gorgon emphasized the severity of the situation: “Fentanyl is a plague on the American people,” he stated. “We will do all that we can to fight this deadly drug and save precious lives.”

Echoing this sentiment, Acting Special Agent Lawton remarked, “The sentencing of Mr. Chamberlain sends a clear message: those who traffic fentanyl and other deadly drugs will be held accountable.” He highlighted the dedication of DEA agents and partners in disrupting networks responsible for this public health crisis.

The investigation involved collaboration between the DEA and United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS), with additional support from the Michigan State Police Bay Area Narcotics Enforcement Team and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. Assistant United States Attorney William Orr prosecuted the case.
