Sean Joseph Brennan, a 58-year-old resident of Hudson, Wyoming, has been sentenced to 120 months in federal prison followed by 10 years of supervised release for possession of child pornography. The court ordered him to pay $33,000 in restitution to the victims identified in the materials he possessed. The investigation began on September 10, 2024, when the Lander Police Department contacted the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation's Internet Crimes Against Children task force for assistance. Brennan was found to have engaged in online chats with someone he believed to be a minor and had thousands of images and videos containing child sexual assault material on his electronic devices. Assistant U.S. Attorney Z. Seth Griswold prosecuted the case, and U.S. District Court Judge Alan B. Johnson imposed the sentence on June 25 in Cheyenne.

In another case, Tyler Kihlstrom from Gillette, Wyoming, received a sentence of 168 months in federal prison with five years of supervised release for conspiring to distribute methamphetamine. From March through May 2024, Kihlstrom conspired with others to obtain methamphetamine from Colorado and distribute it in Wyoming. He was arrested near Douglas after being found with 549 grams of methamphetamine and over $8,000 in cash following several controlled purchases by agents. Assistant U.S. Attorney Cameron J. Cook prosecuted this case as well, with Chief U.S. District Court Judge Kelly H. Rankin imposing the sentence on June 26.

Jorge Perez-Romero from Mexico was sentenced to time served and will be deported for illegal reentry into the United States after being arrested by the Wyoming Highway Patrol for traffic-related offenses on April 6, 2025. Immigration authorities determined that Perez-Romero had previously been removed from the U.S., having not applied for permission to reenter since his formal removal in June 2005.

The United States Attorney’s Office is tasked with representing the federal government in litigation involving violations of federal law within Wyoming's district court system.
