Senate passes major budget reconciliation bill with commerce committee provisions

The Senate has passed the One, Big, Beautiful Bill Act, a significant budget reconciliation bill that includes key provisions from the Senate Commerce Committee Republicans. This legislation aims to reduce deficits by over $43 billion in ten years and cut more than $1.1 billion in wasteful spending.

The Commerce Committee's contributions to the bill focus on modernizing the air traffic control system, rebuilding the U.S. Coast Guard for enhanced maritime security, ensuring U.S. leadership in space exploration, and expanding commercial access to spectrum. These measures are intended to boost America's economic potential.

Senator Cruz expressed his support following the bill's passage: "Today, the Senate took an important step toward restoring fiscal sanity, turbocharging the American economy, and securing America’s global leadership in critical sectors. I am proud to have helped shape key parts of the One, Big, Beautiful Bill through the Senate Commerce Committee."

He added that these provisions will help "fixing our antiquated air traffic control system and strengthening our nation’s Coast Guard," as well as contribute to returning American astronauts to space and surpassing China in Mars exploration efforts. The approval of a large commercial spectrum pipeline is also expected to lead to faster internet services and significant private sector investment.

Senator Cruz concluded by stating that "The One, Big, Beautiful Bill is a victory for every hardworking American and sets up our future generations for success."
