Former transit supervisor sentenced over bribery involving Metrorail contracts

Dale Robinson, a former supervisor at Miami-Dade Transit, and his wife Marcia Robinson have been sentenced for their involvement in a bribery scheme related to Metrorail contracts. U.S. District Judge K. Michael Moore handed down the sentences after both pleaded guilty to federal charges.

Dale Robinson admitted to soliciting a bribe from a contractor for Miami-Dade Transit concerning Metrorail repair and maintenance contracts. He received an 18-month prison sentence followed by three years of supervised release. Additionally, he has already paid a forfeiture judgment of $75,956 to the United States.

Marcia Robinson was found guilty of misprision of a felony for assisting her husband in covering up the bribery scheme. She received three years of probation due to her lesser role in the crime.

The case details reveal that Dale Robinson held significant responsibilities as acting General Superintendent and lead Rail Structure and Track Supervisor within Miami-Dade Transit's Track and Guideway unit. His duties included recommending contractors for Metrorail track maintenance and repair work, including overseeing work by Jessie Bledsoe, co-owner of JB Railroad Contracting, Inc., based in North Dakota.

In January 2021, while JB Railroad was seeking an additional contract with Miami-Dade Transit, Dale Robinson requested a bribe from Bledsoe. The bribe aimed to influence contractor selection for an upcoming welding project. To conceal the payment, it was agreed that Bledsoe would pay through a company specified by Dale Robinson.

Subsequently, Dale Robinson instructed Marcia Robinson to create Tailored Railroads & Consulting LLC in Maryland and open a checking account under its name. Between February 2021 and February 2022, she sent four invoices from Tailored Railroads to JB Railroad despite knowing no services were provided. These invoices facilitated payments totaling $75,956 as part of the bribe.

Although Marcia Robinson was unaware of all details regarding her husband's illegal agreement with Bledsoe, she knew about the checks being linked to Dale's recommendation favoring JB Railroad for work with Miami-Dade Transit but did not report this information.

Jessie Bledsoe has also pled guilty to paying the bribe; his sentencing is scheduled before U.S. District Judge Beth Bloom on October 3, 2025.

The announcement came from U.S. Attorney Hayden P. O’Byrne for the Southern District of Florida alongside Special Agent Brett D. Skiles from FBI Miami and Inspector General Felix Jimenez from MDC-OIG.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Edward N. Stamm prosecuted this case while Assistant U.S Attorney Marx Calderon handled forfeiture matters.
