A federal grand jury in Huntsville has indicted six individuals on immigration-related charges, according to an announcement by U.S. Attorney Prim Escalona.
The defendants, all citizens of Mexico, face charges for illegally reentering the United States after previous deportations. The individuals charged are Adalberto Guerrero-Alba, 63; Gustavo Bueno-Zamora, 59; Israel Islas-Martinez, 34; Benjamin Ulloa-Cabrera, 38; and Roxana Silva-Tejada, 38.
Additionally, Jose Mena-Villeda, 57, is charged not only with illegal reentry but also with making false statements to a federal agency and submitting false information in immigration paperwork.
These cases fall under Operation Take Back America. This initiative utilizes resources from the Department of Justice to combat illegal immigration and transnational criminal organizations while protecting communities from violent crime. Homeland Security Investigations played a role in investigating these cases as part of this operation.
It is important to note that an indictment consists solely of charges. Each defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
