The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has made significant arrests to remove dangerous criminal illegal aliens from the United States. This effort aims to protect American communities from individuals who have committed serious crimes.
Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin stated, "The crimes that these criminal illegal aliens have committed are the result of open border policies: brutal stabbings, sex crimes, and murder." She added, "Under the Biden administration, criminal illegal aliens like these were left to freely brutalize our communities. President Trump and Secretary Noem are restoring order. We are removing threats, standing up for victims and restoring law and order in our streets."
Among those arrested is Edgar Ismael Gomez-Lara from Mexico, who was apprehended by ICE Houston after being convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. In May 2024, Houston police responded to a stabbing incident where a 24-year-old victim suffered multiple knife wounds. Gomez-Lara was located and arrested shortly after fleeing the scene.
Other notable arrests include Joel B. Reyes from El Salvador, convicted of first-degree rape in Nassau County, New York; Audy Nolasco-Vasquez from El Salvador, a registered sex offender convicted of invasion of privacy involving nudity for sexual arousal in Ames, Iowa; Cristian Ortiz-Quintero from Colombia, convicted on nine counts of possession of child pornography in Fairfax County, Virginia; and Enrique Vazquez-Vera from Mexico, convicted of second-degree murder in Sampson County, North Carolina.
