Ice arrests Guatemalan national convicted of assaulting child

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) New England has arrested a Guatemalan national, Jose Alberto Rojop Cajas, who was convicted of indecent assault and battery involving a child. The arrest took place on July 9 in Middleton, Massachusetts, with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service.

Cajas is classified as a Level 1 registered sex offender. He illegally entered the United States around 2004 from an unspecified location. On June 13, 2023, he was convicted in Lynn District Court, Massachusetts for the offense against a child under 14.

Cajas is currently held in ICE custody while removal proceedings are pending.
