Eufaula resident pleads guilty to second-degree murder in Indian Country

The United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma has announced that William Clayton Brown, 42, from Eufaula, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to a charge of second-degree murder in Indian Country. The charge carries a potential sentence of up to life imprisonment and a fine of $250,000.

According to the Information filed in court, Brown committed the crime on September 15, 2017. He is accused of killing the victim with malice aforethought in McIntosh County within the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Reservation.

The investigation leading to this charge was conducted by the Eufaula Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. U.S. District Judge David C. Joseph from the Western District of Louisiana accepted Brown's plea and ordered a presentence investigation report.

Brown remains in custody with the United States Marshals Service as he awaits sentencing. The final sentence will be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge who will consider various factors including U.S. Sentencing Guidelines.
