Subcommittee on Federal Law Enforcement Chairman Clay Higgins (R-La.) has announced a hearing titled “Catch and Release, Lose and Forget: Addressing the Crisis of Unaccompanied Alien Children – Part I.” The hearing aims to review findings from a March 2025 report by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of the Inspector General. This report highlighted that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) struggles to monitor the location and status of unaccompanied migrant children released from DHS and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services custody.

The hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at 2:00 pm ET in Room 2247 Rayburn House Office Building. Joseph Cuffari, Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, will be present as a witness.

The event will be available for viewing via livestream.
