Foster man pleads guilty to downloading child pornography

A Foster resident has pleaded guilty to charges related to child pornography, according to an announcement by Acting United States Attorney Sara Miron Bloom. John Q. Adams, 36, admitted to downloading and storing explicit content involving minors.

The investigation revealed that on January 13, 2021, Adams downloaded a video depicting child sexual abuse material. Further scrutiny found he had approximately 112 images and 49 videos of similar content in his possession.

Adams is set for sentencing on October 21, 2025. The sentence will be determined by a federal district judge considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other factors.

Assistant United States Attorney Denise M. Barton is prosecuting the case. The investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations and the Rhode Island State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative led by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the DOJ’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section to combat child exploitation. More information can be found at https://www.justice.gov/psc.
