U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Buffalo, in collaboration with the Buffalo Police Department, has arrested a Kenyan national on charges of being a felon in possession of ammunition. The individual, identified as Aden Ibrahim, 29, is a lawful permanent resident.

"HSI Buffalo is proud to collaborate with our local, state, and federal partners in Western New York to enhance public safety and national security through ongoing targeted criminal enforcement efforts. We are committed to fostering strong partnerships that strengthen our community and safeguard our region," stated HSI Buffalo Special Agent in Charge Erin Keegan.

The arrest occurred on July 9 when Buffalo Police responded to a report of an "unwelcomed guest" at a local residence. The complainant reported that an individual known as "Beano," later identified as Aden Ibrahim through his U.S. permanent resident card, was refusing to leave the premises and was allegedly in possession of crack cocaine and a firearm.

Officers observed Ibrahim attempting to flee the scene on foot. Upon further investigation at the residence, detectives found a revolver with tape on its handle lying on the floor of a bedroom where "Beano" had been staying. A search warrant executed at the residence led to the seizure of the revolver, ammunition, approximately 26 grams of suspected crack cocaine base, and drug paraphernalia.

Ibrahim has previous felony convictions for criminal possession of a weapon in March 2022 and criminal possession of a controlled substance in January 2024. He is legally prohibited from possessing ammunition due to these convictions.

Following his arrest, Ibrahim appeared before a U.S. magistrate judge who ordered him detained pending further proceedings under the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
