A Boston-area man has been sentenced to five years in prison for his involvement with a violent gang. Wilter Rodrigues, 39, was sentenced by U.S. Senior District Court Judge William G. Young on July 22, 2025, to 60 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release. In July 2024, Rodrigues pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute cocaine and cocaine base.
Court documents revealed that Rodrigues was identified as a member of Cameron Street, a gang operating primarily in the Dorchester area of Boston. The gang is known for using violence and threats to maintain its territory and reputation.
Rodrigues collaborated with two co-defendants to allegedly distribute drugs from an apartment in Somerville. He has a history of criminal activity, including a previous federal conviction for firearm possession and state convictions for drug offenses.
The announcement was made by United States Attorney Leah B. Foley; Bryan DiGirolamo, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, Boston Field Division; Jarod A. Forget, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration's New England Field Division; and Boston Police Commissioner Michael Cox. Assistance came from multiple law enforcement agencies across Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
This case is part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) Strike Force Initiative which aims to disrupt major criminal organizations through multi-agency collaboration.
The remaining defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
