Robert J. "Bob" Troester U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma
Jose Reyes Zamora-De La Torre, a 33-year-old Mexican national, has been sentenced to 14 months in federal prison for illegally reentering the United States after previously being removed. The sentencing was announced by U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester.
Court records show that Zamora-De La Torre was discovered in Oklahoma on January 16, 2025, following his arrest on state charges. He had previously been deported to Mexico on May 31, 2024. His arrest came after warrants were issued in Oklahoma County District Court for several offenses, including assault and battery upon a police officer, public intoxication, obstruction of an officer (case number CF-2024-2332), and malicious injury to property under $1,000 (case number CF-2024-1809). Zamora-De La Torre has since been convicted of these crimes.
Federal charges for illegal reentry were filed against Zamora-De La Torre on February 28, 2025. He pleaded guilty on April 4, admitting that he knowingly returned to the United States without authorization.
During the sentencing hearing held July 22, U.S. District Judge David L. Russell ordered Zamora-De La Torre to serve a 14-month prison term. Judge Russell stated that the sentence was justified because Zamora-De La Torre committed additional crimes while unlawfully present in the country.
The case resulted from an investigation conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations unit and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Bow Bottomly.
This prosecution is part of Operation Take Back America—a Department of Justice initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and targeting transnational criminal organizations and violent crime across the nation.
