The Heritage Foundation has formed a Defense Advisory Panel (DAP) consisting of thirteen retired General and Flag Officers. These officers will provide guidance to the Allison Center for National Security. The panel members collectively have over 440 years of military service across five branches of the U.S. Armed Forces: the Navy, Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. Their expertise spans various military fields including air defense artillery, armor, aviation, cavalry, infantry, intelligence, mobility, ordnance, special operations, and surface warfare.
Victoria Coates, vice president of the Kathryn and Shelby Cullom Davis Institute for National Security and Foreign Policy at Heritage, commented on the development: "We are honored to have this impressive group of national security leaders join The Heritage Foundation as we seek to rebuild our military, build credible deterrence, and improve the lethality of our armed forces."
The panel will advise the Allison Center as it prepares to release the eleventh edition of its Index of U.S. Military Strength. This publication evaluates the military's capability to protect national interests and counter threats.
Robert Greenway, Director of the Allison Center for National Security at Heritage said: "The strength of the U.S. military will be immeasurably enhanced through the advice, insights, and subject-matter expertise of this incredibly accomplished group. The Allison Center will greatly benefit from their robust knowledge and wisdom, and we look forward to actively working with these incredible patriots."
