Claudia Isabel Cazerez-Quintero, a 42-year-old Mexican national from Sinaloa, has been sentenced in federal court in Omaha, Nebraska for her involvement in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy. United States Attorney Lesley A. Woods announced the sentencing, which took place on July 15, 2025. Chief United States District Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr. ordered Cazerez-Quintero to serve 226 months in prison for each charge, with the sentences running concurrently. She will also face a 10-year term of supervised release after completing her prison sentence and is subject to deportation as she is not a U.S. citizen.

Cazerez-Quintero was already under federal supervised release at the time of this offense due to a previous conviction for possession of three kilograms of heroin with intent to distribute in the Northern District of Ohio on July 5, 2017. For violating her supervised release, Chief Judge Rossiter imposed an additional 30-month imprisonment term to run concurrent with her new sentence.

According to authorities, law enforcement began their investigation following two controlled purchases of methamphetamine by a confidential source in December 2023 and January 2024. The transactions involved significant amounts of methamphetamine and were arranged via telephone with a courier linked to Cazerez-Quintero.

On January 10, 2024, surveillance led law enforcement to identify Cazerez-Quintero driving the vehicle used during these drug sales at a known Omaha drug dealer's residence near 27th and Hazel streets. Shortly after her visit there, the Drug Enforcement Administration executed a search warrant at that location and seized three pounds of methamphetamine.

The following day, officers executed another search warrant at an apartment complex where they detained Cazerez-Quintero and discovered approximately 56 pounds of methamphetamine hidden inside a dresser and backpack. Authorities also seized $17,880 in cash from the scene.

During questioning after her arrest, Cazerez-Quintero denied knowledge of both the drugs and currency but admitted that some clothing found belonged to her. She acknowledged knowing the courier involved in previous controlled buys and allowed officers to search her phone. Investigators found images consistent with drug trafficking activity as well as text messages referencing deliveries of methamphetamine.

"This case was investigated by the Omaha Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration."
