A federal grand jury has indicted Jaime Smith, 37, of Buffalo, New York, on several drug-related charges. According to U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo, the indictment includes counts of narcotics conspiracy and possession with intent to distribute significant amounts of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and crack cocaine. The alleged offenses carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison and could result in up to life imprisonment and a $10 million fine.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Donna Duncan stated that the indictment alleges Smith conspired with others from January 2022 through May 2024 to possess and sell these illegal substances.
The investigation is part of Operation Take Back America, which aims to use Department of Justice resources to combat illegal immigration, dismantle cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and address violent crime in communities across the country.
Homeland Security Investigations led the inquiry with support from the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New York Field Division and the New York State Police.
