Metairie man sentenced to over 14 years for distributing child sexual abuse material

A Metairie man has been sentenced to more than 14 years in federal prison for distributing child sexual abuse material. Kevin Lillis, 51, received a sentence of 175 months from United States District Judge Jane Triche Milazzo after pleading guilty to the distribution charge. Following his release from prison, Lillis will serve 15 years of supervised release and must register as a sex offender. He was also ordered to pay a $100 mandatory special assessment fee. A restitution hearing is scheduled for October 28, 2025.

The investigation began after authorities received a case referral based on evidence collected during an unrelated case. In March 2024, FBI agents executed a search warrant at Lillis’s residence and seized electronic devices containing over 600 images and six videos depicting the sexual victimization of children. Among these files were images of newborn infants less than one day old engaged in sexually explicit conduct, as well as depictions involving sadistic or violent acts.

Lillis distributed these files on multiple occasions between January and March 11, 2024. Investigators also found conversations on encrypted messaging applications where Lillis claimed to have engaged in hands-on sexual contact with prepubescent minors as young as eight years old over the past two decades. He sent sexually suggestive pictures of minors he interacted with, including an image of an approximately eight-year-old girl that he distributed in early March.

The prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood, a Department of Justice initiative launched in May 2006 to address child exploitation crimes by coordinating federal, state, and local resources to locate offenders and rescue victims. "U.S. Attorney Simpson praised the work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in investigating this matter." Assistant United States Attorney Jordan Ginsberg led the prosecution.
