A Martinsburg resident has admitted involvement in a drug trafficking organization that distributed significant amounts of fentanyl in Berkeley County, West Virginia.
Matthew James Elsea, 43, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl. According to court documents, Elsea collaborated with others in selling fentanyl throughout the area.
Elsea could face a minimum of 10 years and up to life in federal prison. The final sentence will be determined by a federal district court judge who will consider the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
