The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has recognized Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton as a “Star” employer in its Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP). This designation is OSHA’s highest recognition for employers and workers who have established effective safety and health management systems, maintaining injury and illness rates below industry averages.
The VPP brings together company management, site employees, and OSHA to emphasize hazard prevention, worksite analysis, training, management commitment, and worker involvement. The goal is to prevent workplace fatalities, injuries, and illnesses.
Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton supports the Marine Expeditionary Force by maintaining air station facilities and property. It provides services that help tenants and visiting units maintain their mission capability and combat readiness.
OSHA offers resources on developing workplace safety programs that apply to all workplaces. Employers can access free tools on OSHA’s website or contact the agency for compliance assistance with OSHA standards.
