Guatemalan national charged after ramming car into ICE vehicle in Oklahoma City

Robert J. "Bob" Troester U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma

Julio Giron-Ramirez, a 26-year-old Guatemalan national, has been charged with assaulting, resisting, or impeding a federal officer with a dangerous weapon. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester.

According to an affidavit supporting the criminal complaint, on August 3, 2025, officers from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Giron-Ramirez in Oklahoma City. Authorities allege that Giron-Ramirez did not comply with the stop and sped away. ICE officers pursued him and tried another traffic stop, at which point Giron-Ramirez allegedly rammed his vehicle into the front end of an ICE vehicle before fleeing the scene on foot. Law enforcement later located and arrested him.

If convicted, Giron-Ramirez could face up to 20 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester stated: "The public is reminded this charge is merely an allegation, and that Giron-Ramirez is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt."

The investigation involved ICE-ERO, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Oklahoma City Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandon Hale is prosecuting the case.

This prosecution falls under Operation Take Back America, an initiative by the Department of Justice aimed at addressing illegal immigration issues as well as targeting cartels and transnational criminal organizations to protect communities from violent crime.
