Woodruff man sentenced to over 10 years for drug trafficking conspiracy

Travis Legg, a 44-year-old resident of Woodruff, South Carolina, has been sentenced to more than 10 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute over 500 grams of methamphetamine and over 40 grams of fentanyl. The sentencing took place in Spartanburg.

According to evidence presented in court, a joint investigation by federal and local authorities in 2023 identified Legg as part of a drug trafficking operation centered in Spartanburg. He was indicted for his involvement and arrested on federal charges in June 2024. At the time of his arrest, officials found him with additional quantities of methamphetamine and marijuana.

United States District Judge Donald C. Coggins imposed a sentence of 126 months imprisonment on Legg, followed by five years of supervised release.

The prosecution is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) investigation. OCDETF is a multi-agency initiative that focuses on disrupting and dismantling major drug traffickers, money launderers, gangs, and transnational criminal organizations through collaboration among federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. The case was investigated by multiple agencies including Homeland Security Investigations Border Enforcement Security Task Force, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, U.S. Postal Inspection Service, Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, Greenville Police Department, Greenville County Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Enforcement Unit, the South Carolina Department of Corrections Office of Inspector General, and Anderson County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jamie Schoen is prosecuting the case.
