Randall Meck, a 52-year-old resident of Virginia, was sentenced to 188 months in federal prison for crimes related to child sexual exploitation. The sentencing took place in U.S. District Court following his guilty plea to distribution of child pornography. According to the announcement by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro, law enforcement recovered 180 videos and 560 images depicting the sexual abuse of children from Meck’s phone after his arrest at Dulles International Airport in December 2024.
In addition to the prison sentence, Judge Reggie B. Walton ordered that Meck serve a lifetime of supervised release, register as a sex offender, and pay $5,000 in restitution.
The investigation involved cooperation between the FBI Washington Field Office Criminal Division and the Metropolitan Police Department. FBI Special Agent in Charge Reid Davis and Chief Pamela A. Smith joined Pirro in announcing the outcome.
Court documents show that law enforcement began investigating Meck after obtaining Facebook messages between him and another individual during a sex tourism investigation in September 2024. On September 26, an undercover agent with the Washington D.C. Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force contacted Meck online. During this interaction, Meck shared a video depicting child sexual abuse with the undercover officer and provided contact information for someone in the Philippines who could allegedly facilitate access to children for abuse. He also gave travel advice intended to assist others seeking illicit activity abroad.
Meck was arrested on December 21, 2024 upon arrival at Dulles International Airport. Authorities seized his iPhone containing hundreds of files showing child sexual abuse.
After waiving his Miranda rights post-arrest, Meck admitted he had traveled multiple times between 2021 and 2024 to the Philippines for illegal sexual conduct with minors.
This prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation through coordinated efforts among federal, state, and local agencies (https://www.justice.gov/psc).
The case was investigated by members of MPD’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force—a group including FBI agents as well as other federal agents and detectives from northern Virginia and Washington D.C.—who focus on cases involving child exploitation and human trafficking.
Assistant U.S. Attorney John Parron and former Assistant U.S. Attorney Jocelyn Bond prosecuted the case.
