A federal grand jury has indicted Marco Antonio Jimenez Gonzalez, 27, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, on charges of transportation and possession of child pornography. The indictment was returned on August 7, 2025, according to the Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Vermont.

Gonzalez is scheduled for arraignment on August 14, 2025, at 10:00 AM before United States Magistrate Judge Kevin J. Doyle.

Court records indicate that Gonzalez attempted to reenter the United States at the Highgate Springs Port of Entry on July 23, 2025. During this process, U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers discovered child sexual abuse material on his cell phone and laptop. Law enforcement arrested him that day.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office noted that an indictment contains only allegations and that Gonzalez is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. If convicted on all counts, he faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years and up to forty years in prison. Sentencing would be determined by the District Court using advisory guidelines and statutory factors.

Acting United States Attorney Michael P. Drescher stated: "I commend the investigatory efforts of U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Homeland Security Investigations."

Assistant United States Attorney Joshua L. Banker is prosecuting the case. Brooks McArthur represents Gonzalez.

This prosecution falls under Project Safe Childhood, a national initiative started by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to address child sexual exploitation online by coordinating federal, state, and local resources to locate offenders and rescue victims.
