Dominican national pleads guilty to illegal reentry after prior drug conviction

A Dominican national who was previously deported after a heroin trafficking conviction has pleaded guilty to illegally reentering the United States, according to an announcement from Acting United States Attorney Sara Miron Bloom.

Kelvin Roberto Feliz, 54, admitted in federal court that he returned to the country after being convicted in September 2014 and deported in July 2015. He has been detained at the Adult Correctional Institution since June 2024 on an unrelated matter.

Feliz is scheduled for sentencing on October 9, 2025. The sentence will be determined by a federal district judge, taking into account the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

"This case is part of Operation Take Back America a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime. Operation Take Back America streamlines efforts and resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN)."

Assistant United States Attorney Paul F. Daly, Jr. is prosecuting the case, which was investigated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
