The U.S. Departments of Commerce, Labor, and Education have released a joint report titled "America’s Talent Strategy: Equipping American Workers for the Golden Age." The document details the Trump Administration’s plan to reshape federal workforce development in support of its economic agenda.
The strategy is built around five pillars aimed at increasing access to jobs with competitive wages, creating talent pipelines for key industries, adapting the workforce system for an economy influenced by artificial intelligence, and reinforcing the United States’ position as a leading global economy.
Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick stated, “We are investing in the American worker like never before to deliver on President Trump’s bold vision of rebuilding American industry and dominating new technological frontiers. This strategy will revolutionize our workforce and unleash the power of the American worker.”
Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-DeRemer added, “I’m grateful to Secretaries Lutnick and McMahon for working with the Labor Department to develop this critical, forward-thinking strategy, which lays the foundation for the future of our nation. Whether it’s expanding proven workforce models like Registered Apprenticeships or improving AI readiness, at President Trump’s direction, we have developed a concrete plan to put the American Worker First. Together, we will ensure our workforce is prepared to fill the hundreds of thousands of good-paying, in-demand jobs created by the President’s bold efforts to restore America as the world’s leading economic superpower.”
U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon said, “President Trump has set an ambitious and bold strategy to reindustrialize America, and to realign education to better serve our evolving workforce. I am proud to stand with Secretaries Chavez-DeRemer and Lutnick to reinvigorate industry-driven standards, cross-agency integrated systems, and skills-based education pipelines to support in-demand career development. By empowering Americans with new career pathways and access to innovative workforce-based programs, we are confident these reforms will build the next great American workforce.”
According to officials involved in drafting this initiative, there is a focus on both traditional job training models such as apprenticeships as well as preparing workers for technological changes brought by advances in artificial intelligence.
