A Mexican national residing illegally in Collin County has been indicted for unlawfully returning to the United States, according to a statement from Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs of the Eastern District of Texas.
Vicente Marquez-Gonzales, 49, was charged by a federal grand jury this week with illegal reentry after deportation. The indictment alleges that Marquez-Gonzales was found in the Eastern District of Texas on June 3, 2025, following his previous removal from the country.
"This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs) and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime. Operation Take Back America streamlines efforts and resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN)."
If convicted, Marquez-Gonzales could face up to two years in federal prison followed by deportation.
The investigation is being conducted by Homeland Security Investigations. Assistant U.S. Attorney Chalana Oliver is prosecuting the case.
"A federal indictment is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law."
