Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a call with Kenyan President William Ruto to acknowledge Kenya’s ongoing leadership in efforts to restore peace and security in Haiti. During the conversation, both leaders reaffirmed the strategic partnership between the United States and Kenya. They also discussed commercial opportunities aimed at further strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries.
Principal Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott stated, “Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with Kenyan President William Ruto today to commend Kenya’s continued leadership and ongoing efforts to restore peace and security in Haiti. They reaffirmed our strategic partnership and discussed commercial opportunities to further strengthen economic cooperation between the United States and Kenya.”
The discussion comes as both nations seek to deepen their collaboration on regional security issues and explore new avenues for economic engagement.
