Yolo County man sentenced to 30 days for sexual assault on Seattle-Sacramento flight

Michele Beckwith Acting U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of California

A Yolo County man has pleaded guilty and been sentenced for sexually assaulting a young woman during a commercial flight from Seattle to Sacramento. Jeff Lorenzo, 40, of Winters, received a 30-day prison sentence after entering his plea before U.S. Magistrate Judge Sean C. Riordan, according to U.S. Attorney Eric Grant.

Court documents state that the incident occurred on August 9, 2024. The victim, a 20-year-old woman, boarded the plane as one of the last passengers and took the only available seat between Lorenzo and his co-worker at the back of the aircraft. During the flight, Lorenzo touched her repeatedly without consent. He grazed her leg with his hand, put his head near her crotch while pretending to pick up a dropped phone, and pressed his arm into her breast several times.

Co-workers of Lorenzo reported that he had previously behaved inappropriately and harassed women.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation investigated the case. Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicole Moody prosecuted.
