Cabell County man receives four-year federal sentence for drug offense

Henry Rogers, a 66-year-old resident of Barboursville, was sentenced to four years in prison followed by three years of supervised release for possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.

Court records indicate that on February 17, 2023, law enforcement officers stopped Rogers’ vehicle on U.S. Route 19 in the Birch River area of Nicholas County. During the stop, officers seized methamphetamine from Rogers. He later admitted as part of his guilty plea that he possessed the controlled substance containing methamphetamine. Officers executed a search warrant on his vehicle and discovered more methamphetamine along with a .380-caliber pistol in the trunk. In total, authorities seized 205.2 grams of methamphetamine from the vehicle.

Rogers has a prior felony conviction related to conspiring to manufacture methamphetamine.

"Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston made the announcement and commended the investigative work of the West Virginia State Police."

The sentence was handed down by United States District Judge Thomas E. Johnston. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney D. Keith Randolph.
