Secretary Kristi Noem announced that an additional $28 million in funding will be provided as FEMA continues to assist North Carolina in its recovery efforts following Tropical Storm Helene and other recent disasters.
The new allocation brings the total recovery funding for August to over $124 million, after a previous announcement of $96 million earlier this week. The funds are intended to support road repairs, restore critical infrastructure, remove debris, and cover other emergency actions necessary to protect life and property in affected communities.
FEMA is reimbursing these expenses through its Public Assistance program, which provides financial support for state and local government response and recovery operations. Since January 20, 2025, more than $350 million in Public Assistance reimbursements have been approved for North Carolina’s recovery initiatives. Overall, the state has received more than $655 million for road repair, debris removal, infrastructure restoration, and related needs.
