U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an MS-13 gang member from El Salvador, on Monday at a processing center in Maryland for federal immigration violations. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) stated that Abrego Garcia is being processed for removal to Uganda.

DHS officials criticized certain politicians who publicly defended Abrego Garcia following his arrest. According to DHS, these politicians have not addressed the concerns of Americans affected by crimes committed by undocumented immigrants.

A Senior DHS Official said, "Kilmar Abrego Garcia is not and will never be a Maryland Man—he is a criminal illegal alien from El Salvador and public safety threat. It is insane that sanctuary politicians chose to glorify and stand with an MS-13 gang member over the safety of American citizens. President Trump and Secretary Noem are not going to allow this illegal alien—who is an MS-13 gang member, human trafficker, serial domestic abuser, and child predator—to terrorize American citizens any longer."

Secretary Kristi Noem announced the arrest of Abrego Garcia by ICE.
