Endico Potatoes Inc., based in Mount Vernon, New York, has announced a recall of its Endico brand peas and carrots and mixed vegetables due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The recalled frozen products were distributed through local distributors to New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Maryland, Washington D.C., and Florida between July 18 and August 4, 2025.

The affected items are packaged in frozen 2.5-pound clear plastic bags under the Endico label. The lot codes involved are: peas and carrots (lot 110625, production date June 11, 2025; use by date June 10, 2027) and mixed vegetables (lot 170625, production date June 17, 2025; use by date June 16, 2027). These codes can be found printed on the side of each bag.

According to the company statement: "ENDICO POTATOES of MOUNT VERNON NY is recalling Endico brand PEAS AND CARROTS AND MIXED VEGETABLES, because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women."

No illnesses have been reported so far in connection with these products.

The recall was initiated after sampling conducted by the state of Pennsylvania at one distributor tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes. "The recall was the result of sampling done by the state of Pennsylvania at one of our distributors which revealed that the finished products tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes. The company has ceased distribution of the product as FDA and the company continue their investigation as to what caused the problem," according to Endico Potatoes Inc.

Consumers who purchased these specific lots are advised not to consume them and should return them to where they were bought for a full refund.
